Abstract submission

Language of Submission and Presentation
All paper proposals (oral or poster), whether for a symposium or not, may be submitted in English or French. However, it is strongly recommended that the language of the title and abstract reflect the main language of the poster or the language that will be used during the oral presentation. It is strongly recommended that oral communications in one language provide visual support in the other official language. Similarly, scientific posters written in one language should provide a summary in the second official language. Due to financial constraints, the SCO-SOC Québec 2019 Committee is not in a position to offer linguistic support for translation assistance or simultaneous translation services during the meeting. For more information, please refer to the language policy.

Important information about choice of language: The SCO-SOC Québec 2019 Committee is not in a position to provide a program with summaries in both official languages. Thus, the titles and abstracts of all papers (oral or poster) will be published as received in the language of their submission.

The abstract should clearly and concisely present:

The context of study; its objectives, including the hypotheses or predictions put to test; the main or key methodological approaches employed, including the study area and period; the main results and their interpretation; and finally, a conclusion, opening or take home message.
Do not cite references in the abstract, and limit the use of abbreviations and acronyms.

The structured abstract must be no more than 250 words.
  • Authors will be notified of the abstract acceptance/rejection no later than May 27, 2019.
  • All abstracts may be submitted in English or French with a quality of spelling and grammar suitable for publication (there will be no further linguistic review).
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit. The presenting author must attend the meeting and be available to give the oral presentation or to present the poster.
  • Presenters for the poster session will be asked to be available to answer questions during the dedicated poster viewing time from 17:30-19:00.
